The 6 forest school principles:
- Long term process- Children will attend regular sessions to experience different weathers and seasons throughout the year.
- Take place in a natural environment- the outdoors is a sensory rich environment. The natural environment is also great for developing our physical and mental health too!
- Adopts a holistic approach- we aim to develop all aspects of an individual or a group.
- Supportive risk taking- we encourage children to take safe risks and build resilience and create transferable skills.
- Run by qualified people- Miss Ridley is level 3 trained and will be delivering sessions with all classes in school.
- Learner focused- we want children to get the most out of their sessions so we aim to follow their interests and celebrate their own passions.
Stay tuned for some pictures from our first sessions.
Outdoors
We have an amazing outdoor play area. We have a lovely playground marked with a road track to aid road safety learning and a huge field where children can play freely during their breaks. We have a wooden play area as well as a log circle, a slide and impressive climbing frame. Our gym equipment is a fairly new installment and enhances the active play we encourage.
We also have a garden at the back of school which incorporates an area where the children grow vegetables.
